Hey guys! Your OGS scheduler here with our first online tournament of the year. The biggest RTS of the decade was released this summer, so it's time to get in on the action with our own tournament. I'm hosting this with a couple friends of mine personally--this is not an "official" OGS event, but that doesn't really mean anything. So warm up your command centers, nexuses, and hatcheries, start mining those minerals and constructing those additional pylons. This is OGS's first foray into actual online gaming, and hell, it's about time.
Week Five
Bracket: Click Here
Maps: ICCUP Fighting Spirit, Lost Temple, Xel'Naga Caverns
Maps from previous week for catch-up: Metalopolis, Crossfire, Delta Quadrant
Here we go with another week. Just play to get into the columns with arrows. If you should have an opponent listed but don't, they've been given a day or two extra to get their matches done. Feel free to contact both people you could play if you have time constraints you need to let them know about. That said, good luck!
Things to Remember
-When you set up a time to play your match, please make sure that you have time to play all three games given a reasonable length for each one.
-Players are free to select any race they choose, including Random. If Random, you are not required to reveal your race upon the start of the match.
-The maps listed are the only maps that are to be played for official tournament matches in this round, and they must be played in that order.
-You may have observers in your games only if both players agree. In the case of any dispute, no observers are to be permitted.
-Both players are to save all replays. The winner of the match must upload all of the replays from the match, including any losses, and report the results (along with links to replays) here on the forums, either by posting or in PM. No one objected to having their replays released when they signed up, so a full replay pack of every tournament game will be available upon the end of the tournament.
-If there are any rules disputes that cannot be resolved in-game, players should contact me here on the forums with a replay of the game in question. In general, if some oddity happens that cannot be accounted for (Battle.net suddenly hiccuping and disconnecting players, etc.), players should replay the match that was in progress at the time.
-If you cannot get in touch with your opponent, and the default match time has passed, send me a PM with evidence that you attempted contact. If I cannot contact your opponent, you will be credited with a win.
RULES
General
This tournament will be double-elimination. The bracket will be randomly seeded since we do not have any previous tournaments on which to base seeding. The results from this tournament will be used to seed future OGS tournaments.
For all matches except the grand finals, each match will consist of a best-of-three set on a predetermined map pool. There will be one round every week, and the map rotation for that week will be released at the start of that week. Finals will be best of five, but the map pool will still be pre-determined.
Every week, the bracket will be updated, the map rotation will be released in the first post of this thread, and it will be your responsibility to find your opponent and schedule your match. There will be a list of those signed up in the second post to help facilitate contacting your opponent. Note: If you and your opponent cannot agree on a time to play, the default time will be at 9PM ET on Sunday.
Maps
Eligible maps for the rotation are those maps used by CSL:
Lost Temple
Metalopolis
Xel'Naga Caverns
Delta Quadrant
Crossfire
ICCUP Sanshorn Mists
ICCUP Fighting Spirit
Results submission
Please save all replays. It is the winner's responsibility to submit replays along with the set results; you may post the results and replays either here or you may send them to me in a PM here on the forums. You can use http://www.sc2replayed.com to host your replays. All replays will be released at the end of the tournament, but you may opt out of this simply by saying you do not wish for your replays to be released when you sign up. Do note that chat is recorded in replays.
If there are any disputes, the disputing player should contact me as quickly as possible to get it resolved.
Set format
When your match time is at hand, get in touch with your opponent and create a match on the map dictated by the rues. Select your races and play the match. Repeat this until someone has won enough matches to win the set. You may have observers in your game if you wish, but they must be approved by both players.
In the event of a stalemate (e.g., map is mined out, Terran has lifted off with less than 50 minerals, and opponent has no anti-air), the game will count as a win for both players (play again on the same map if this results in a score of 2-2 or such). Stalemates occur at the players' agreed discretion. However, we ask that you do not intentionally refuse to admit an obvious stalemate in an attempt to "out-patience" your opponent. Match results can be dictated by myself or by the other tournament organizers in such an event.
