What: Street Fighter, Smash Bros, and a farewell to Marvel vs. Capcom 2
When: Saturday, January 29th starting at 12:00PM
Where: University Center Connan Room
It's hard to properly quantify the impact that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 had on the American fighting-game world. The game continued to dynamically evolve for years, only growing more hype as it aged. With the game's sequel, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, just around the corner, we figured we should hold a special "goodbye, and thanks" event for one of the greatest fighting games ever made.
Don't think that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 lives up to the hype? Anybody who saw the incredible levels of energy at West Coast Warzone 3 for the game would remind of what happened there that night. The Evo Championship Series' own goodbye to Marvel vs. Capcom 2 took place with Cl0ckw0rk vs. Neo, a $15,000 money-match to say farewell to the game (action starts at 3:00 in the video, and the players start to play at 4:50 in the video). I'd recommend watching that entire video, as the electricity in the room becomes palpable just a few minutes in...
So we're going to be giving the game its own send-off, and we're combining it with some more fun fighting games (namely Street Fighter and Smash Bros). Even if you don't know what all the hype is about, stop on by, play some games, enter a raffle, and get ready for that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Launch Party we're gonna be doing soon... By the way, if you want free raffle tickets to be used at that party, you can get them at this event. But only if you RSVP!
